JASMINE | SUNSET SENIOR PORTRAIT SESSION | WASHINGTON

This is my cousin Jasmine!

We decided to take her senior photos late-July up in Capitol Forest. We saw some beautiful pictures taken at sunset in this forest and wanted to take some for her senior photos! We drove for a good half-hour to get to the top but couldn’t find the vast clearing we were looking for. We stopped the car and took some pictures in the tall grass before deciding to head back to town. We were really disappointed because we didn’t get the shots we wanted.

However, on the way home, I saw a nice clearing near a gas-station on the outskirts of town. I quickly decided that we would stop at this gas-station and try to take more pictures. So we walked to some grass right behind the gas-station and finished our shoot just as the sun was setting.

Simply put, this was a good lesson for me as a photographer! Popular locations are great but sometimes the best locations are in the places no one is looking!
